2009 Nassau Stakes Preview
It’s the final day of the 2009 Glorious Goodwood meeting, and organizers have saved the best for last, with racing fans in for a treat with the day’s feature race – the 2009 Nassau Stakes.
The Nassau Stakes has been hit by a slew of late withdrawals, with the likes of Sariska and Lush Lashes opting out of the race. There’s more than enough quality in the field though, with the likes of Rainbow View and Midday still in contention for group one glory in the race.
It’s the former that many punters will be looking to in today’s race. At 4/1 Rainbow view will return stakes on each way bets, and like Rip Van Winkle in the Sussex Stakes, is overdue a group one success this season.
The filly who emerged as a champion in her two year old season will have to contend with Henry Cecil’s Midday, who placed in both the Irish and Epsom Oaks, but has also failed to claim a group one race this season. Midday is the antepost favourite at odds of 7/2.
Aside from the two favourites there are several runners priced around the 7/1 margin who are certainly worth a look for each way bets. Moneycantbuymelove looks particularly compelling coming into the Nassau Stakes on the back of two wins.
